Oncology Germline (CGx)
This test is designed for individuals with personal and/or family history of cancer. Hereditary cancer syndromes are caused by mutations (changes) in certain genes passed from parents to children, putting individuals at a higher than normal risk of developing certain cancers. Knowing your risk allows individuals to take proactive steps for intervention.
We firmly believe that genetic testing benefits health care providers better estimate their patient’s risk of developing cancer. With this in mind, patients and providers will be influenced to perform preventative actions such as:
- Increased Self-examinations i.e clinical and self breast examinations
- Early and increased prostate cancer screenings
- Increased thyroid examinations
- Consideration of MRI-based screening/technologies
- Increased colonoscopy frequency
